Mechanical Dependence

This project explores the dichotomy between humans and machines in the context of car production, culture, consumerism, new media art, and the unique Pasadena site. Specifically, it investigates the dependence of humans upon machines and the implications that relationship entails. The project expresses this dependence through the manipulation of program and structure. The contrast is further explored through the use of materiality, cladding and day lighting. The project seeks to take advantage of the unique site and program to influence and redefine the interaction and reaction of man and machine.
